I sincerely welcome you to the website of the Korean Consulate-General in Melbourne.

Since its establishment in 2012, our Consulate has been responsible for Victoria, the Australian state where Melbourne, the nation’s second largest city, is located. Although Victoria accounts for only about 3% of Australia’s total land area, its size is comparable to that of the entire Korean Peninsula.

The annual trade volume between Korea and Victoria reaches approximately USD 3.5 billion, making Korea Victoria’s eighth-largest trading partner. Active exchanges are taking place across a wide range of sectors including automobiles, crude oil and refined products, food and pharmaceuticals, metals, and critical minerals, with bilateral investment steadily expanding.

Melbourne, home to a population of five million spread across an area more than 16 times the size of Seoul, has long been recognized as one of the “most livable cities in the world.” It also serves as a hub of culture, education, and sports, hosting globally renowned events such as the Australian Open (January), the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix (March), and the Melbourne Cup horse race (November).

As a model multicultural and multiethnic society, Melbourne is home to around 28,000 Korean residents who actively contribute to diverse fields and have become an integral part of the local community.

The Consulate-General will continue to do its utmost to strengthen the friendship and exchanges between Korea and Victoria. We are equally committed to ensuring the safety and rights of Korean nationals and overseas compatriots living in or visiting Melbourne, as well as promoting unity and development within the Korean community. At the same time, we will strive to provide prompt and reliable consular services with kindness and professionalism.

Once again, thank you for visiting our website. I wish you good health and happiness.

Sincerely,

Consul-General of the Republic of Korea in MelbourneOh Jin-gwan
